Mission Statement

Puffins incorporate the four principals of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) into our daily practice.

• A unique child
• Positive Relationships
• Enabling environment
• Learning and Development

A Unique Child

EYFS: Every child is a competent learner from birth who can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured.

How do we put this into practice?

Puffins understand that babies and children develop in individual ways and at varying rates.

We are an inclusive nursery and all individuals and families will be valued and respected.

Your child’s health, well being and safety are paramount.  We provide balanced nutritional snacks and meals. Our cosy sleep room gives opportunity for rest and relaxation.

Finally, we provide opportunities for children to explore, play and learn in a safe and secure environment.

Positive Relationships

EYFS: Children learn to be strong and independent from a base of loving and secure relationships with parents and/or a key person.

How do we put this into practice?
Puffins prides itself on its relationship with parents and work closely with all families. Children are allocated a key person who will settle your child into the nursery and help them feel confident and safe within it.

You and your child’s key person alongside our professional team will support your child’s learning by observing and listening to them at play.  Through this practice we discover what your child likes to do. We plan for and provide creative and innovative activities for your child to enjoy.

Enabling Environments

EYFS: The environment plays a key role in supporting and extending children’s development and learning.

How do we put this into practice?
Puffins provide a rich and varied environment to support children’s learning and development.  We offer secure and safe yet challenging indoor and outdoor spaces.

Learning and Development

EYFS: Children develop and learn in different ways and at different rates and all areas of learning and development and equally important and inter-connected.

How do we put this into practice?
Puffins provide opportunities for children’s play and exploration both indoors and outdoors.  We observe the children to help plan for active learning through physical and mental challenges.
